Widnell has been appointed by the Property Trust of the Anglican Diocese of Sydney to conduct an audit and to update photographic records of the built assets of the various parishes in the diocese.
There are currently 266 parocial units with upwards of 1900 assets to be checked. The object of the exercise is to confirm records that were first created about 20 years ago and updated as buildings were purchased, built or disposed of over the period.
The General Manager of the Parish Services Division of the Diocesan Secretariat, Mark Payne, said that is was appropriate that the parish built assets be audited and that new digital photographic images be created so that the computer records of parish properties can be linked effectively.
The audit is being conducted over an eighteen month period.
To date (November 2007) three of the Diocesan Regions have been completed, starting with the outer reaches of the Diocese in the Wollongong region, as far south from Sydney as Ulladulla on the South Coast and Wingello on the Southern Highlands.
This region was followed by the Western region, including the Blue Mountains, the Hills District and Parramatta.
Closer in towards Sydney City, Georges River region has been completed and the South Sydney region is under way, leaving the Northern region for early 2008.
Over 2000 digital photgraphs so far have been recorded to amplify the approximately 1000 images in Diocesan records.
